The University of Houston Sports Performance Department is seeking applicants for the graduate assistant position with Olympic Sports. This is a 12-month position and may be renewed for a second year. The position of Graduate Assistantship in Sports Performance involves assisting with coaching responsibilities which may include: Sports Performance Coach for assigned teams, testing and evaluation, communication with sport coaches and athletic training staff, ability to coach and demonstrate exercises, general maintenance of the weight room and other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Performance. Ability to use software such as but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to coach beyond their graduate assistantship, must be able to maintain a professional working relationship with members of the University of Houston Athletic Department and athletes.

This position also includes:

  • Graduate Tuition
  • A stipend is provided
  • A partial meal plan is provided

Qualifications include:

  • One or more of the following certifications: SCCC, CSCS, USAW, or FMS
  • Undergraduate degree in exercise science or related field of study
  • Collegiate playing experience and/or coaching experience
  • Must meet minimum eligibility requirements for admission to Graduate Studies at the University of Houston
