Texas A&M Sports Performance Department (Olympic Sports) is now accepting applications for multiple part-time intern positions for the 2017-2018 school year. Interns will assist the sports performance staff in all day-today operations at three Texas A&M weight rooms. Practical experiences will include but are not limited to: assisting staff in the implementation of sport performance programs for Olympic sports, leading small groups independently, set up/breakdown of training equipment and assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities. Interns will participate and complete all assignment requirements through our formalized intern education curriculum and attend all staff meetings.
Qualifications: Applicants need to have an Undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related field and must hold a current certification by the CSCCa or NSCA. It is required that candidates have prior experience in a college athletics setting, are proficient coaching and demonstrating Olympic lifts, and possess a strong desire to become a sports performance coach at the collegiate level.
Interns will be subject to and must pass a criminal background check to be eligible for the position. This is a paid position and upon completion of both Fall and Spring semesters, interns will be qualified to sit for the SCCC exam from the CSCCa if they desire. Interns will also benefit from experiencing weekly structured education sessions and the opportunity to learn from 8 experienced and diverse sports performance coaches, including several Master Certified Coaches.
Applications will be accepted and reviewed beginning on April 12, 2017-May 24, 2017. Dates of the internship are August 14, 2017- Aug 1, 2018.
