Western Illinois University is currently accepting applications for 1 (one) available Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning position. This is a 1 year appointment for the 2017-2018 academic year with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities would include designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams, as well as other tasks as assigned by the head strength coach. Candidate must have a strong passion for strength and conditioning, knowledge of Olympic based lifts, and a desire to continue in a sports performance coaching career. Early mornings, late evenings and weekend hours may be expected of the position. Most likely start date will be July 1st, 2017. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science or related field. Candidate must be accepted to the Exercise Science Graduate Program at Western Illinois University with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Candidate must have OR actively be seeking a certification from the CSCCa or NSCA. Prior experience in collegiate, professional, or private strength and conditioning will strongly be preferred. Candidate must have the ability to motivate, educate, and coach the student-athlete to reach their highest potential. One must have the ability to communicate daily at a high level with the strength and conditioning staff, athletic training staff, assigned sport coaches, and sport administrators. A current CPR/AED certification is required.
Compensation: Tuition waiver and monthly stipend (around $900/month).
