Job Summary

Inspire Awesome with Eastern Washington University. We are currently seeking an Assistant Athletic Performance Coach / Director of Olympic Sports.

This position will be housed in the athletic department and will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance. This position will work with several of the 14 Division I sport offerings as assigned. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Performance Coach to collaborate with their supervisor to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of the Athletic Performance Program. This includes the education and monitoring of assigned sport teams while working within a shared facility. This position will work closely with the Physical Education department, equipment staff, sports medicine staff, classified staff, and with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. Will also work collaboratively with relevant constituent groups. This position may provide input to their supervisor in evaluating all aspects of the program as it relates to the student-athletes. The position will be encouraged to provide insight into possible improvements that can be made for all.

It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Performance Coach to inform and educate the assigned sport staffs about all policies and procedures integral to strength and conditioning, while also collaborating with the assigned Athletic Training staff to thoroughly communicate about the coverage plan and emergency medical procedures for on and off-season conditioning and lifting.

Conditions of Employment
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check for continued employment.
Travel may be required a minimum of ten (10) nights per year for various conferences and athletic events.
Applicants must be able to maintain a thorough knowledge of NCAA and institutional rules, regulations and policies.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

One (1) year of experience working in collegiate Strength & Conditioning or a related area.

Possess one of the following certifications:

1. SCCC (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified)
2. CSCS (National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification)-CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
3. USA Weightlifting - Level 1

First Aid/CPR/AED certified within the first 30 days of employment.

Candidates must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.


Preferred Qualifications:

Three (3) years of collegiate experience working as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach
Two (2) years of collegiate experience working as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at the NCAA Division I Level.
Possess two of the following certifications:

1. SCCC (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified)
2. CSCS (National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification)-CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
3. USA Weightlifting - Level 1
Prior experience working with an athletic Strength & Conditioning program in the Big Sky Conference.
