Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength & Conditioning, this position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the University's varsity strength and conditioning program. The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will direct the strength & conditioning activities of four to six teams to be determined on the qualifications and areas of expertise of the incumbent. This position requires frequent interaction with head coaches and athletic trainers to draft and implement physical development and flexibility programs to enhance strength, speed, cardiovascular endurance and sports specific skills for each of American University's varsity teams. This position works directly with the student-athletes in the aforementioned four to six teams to enhance their strength, speed, cardiovascular endurance and sports-specific skills. This position is also responsible for assisting with rehabilitation of sports related injuries to student-athletes.
Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise science, biomechanics or related field and certification in strength and conditioning (SCCC or NSCA/CSCS) required. Master's degree preferred.
