The University of Arizona Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns. This internship will begin Spring of 2018 and will conclude at the end of the Spring 2018 semester. This is an unpaid position. Compensation will include gear, learning from an approved mentor via the CSCCa, potential to sit for the SCCC certification, and recommendations for future career opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for the University of Arizona Olympic sports teams, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of the internship curriculum.
Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting.
Preferred applicants will have a current CSCS certification and working towards SCCC certification. Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport. Effective August 1st, 2015, NCAA legislation mandates that only certified personnel can coach athletes unsupervised, therefore current CSCS or SCCC certification is highly desired.
Applications will be accepted until Dec. 15th 2017. SCCC preferred. Our head strength & conditioning coach is mentoring for the opportunity to become SCCC Certified.
