The CSUN Sports Performance department is seeking applicants for the 2018 Summer/Fall Semester Internship Program. After candidate selection, interns will be responsible for weekly presentations to the full-time staff and weekly reading/research assignments. Interns will sit in on weekly staff presentations and participate in hands-on sessions directed by the sports performance staff. The following subject areas will be addressed during your internship: assessing your athletes and pre-session readiness, varying models and methods of periodization and programming, resistance training variables, movement classification, Olympic lifting variables, energy system development, power training, linear speed development, and other various topics.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or master's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, etc. or currently working towards a degree in related field.
Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa-SCCC or NSCA-CSCS or.
Candidates must possess one year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletic experience.
Candidates must have an outstanding work ethic and attention to detail.
Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the sports performance staff with supervision, maintenance and oversight of the weight rooms that service 19 NCAA Division I men's and women's sports; assist with the design, implementation, and oversight of strength training and conditioning programs for specific teams and individual student-athletes as assigned. Participate in group instruction and learning.
POSITION: This is a volunteer position, minimum 20 hours a week required from each intern.
Outcome & Goals: Our goals is to have interns advance in the field of strength and conditioning after completing our internship. If you are serious about becoming a strength and conditioning coach, this internship will help you develop the necessary tools to advance in the field. Please note this is an unpaid internship and we do not offer housing.
