Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

West Texas A&M University is a NCAA Division II Institution competing in the Lone Star Conference. WT is located in Canyon, TX 15 minutes from Amarillo.

Position Description: Assist Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with supervision and implementation of performance enhancing programs for 14 varsity teams. This position will be responsible for design and implementation of strength, power, speed, agility and conditioning programs for teams as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Assist with the implementation for other teams not in direct supervision of including football, baseball and track & field. Work in conjunction with the athletic trainers to rehabilitate injuries and implement injury prevention protocols. Assist with hosting NFL Pro Day each spring. Other day to day duties include supervising student interns, communication with sport coaches, as well as maintenance and upkeep of the weight room.


Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field required. SCCC or CSCS certification and CPR required. USAW certification and previous collegiate athletic experience preferred. Acceptance into WT graduate program is REQUIRED as well as completion of the GRE (25th percentile for admission to Sport Management Program). Applicant must possess good organizational and communication skills, have a strong interest in becoming a strength coach, a self starter, hard working and have the ability to demonstrate and teach all lifts, including Olympic movements. Experience with various Olympic sports including soccer preferred.

Compensation: $15,000 stipend (10 month position August-May)
