Virginia Commonwealth University is accepting applications for the position of Sports Performance Intern for the Fall term of 2018. This is a semester-long position that will begin in August 2018 and end December 2018.
Responsibilities: -Assist in the design and implementation of a sports performance program
-Assist in all areas related to the maintenance of strength and conditioning facility
-Completion of the VCU Sports Performance curriculum including: classroom discussions, readings, written assignments, practical demonstrations and projects
-Implementation of technologies relevant to sports performance
Qualifications: -Practical knowledge and experience with strength training
-Practical knowledge and experience with energy systems training
-Desire to pursue career in sports performance
-Previous experience in formal exercise instruction
-Currently pursuing or already holding a degree in exercise science or related field
-Currently holding or planning to pursue SCCC, CSCS or USAW certification
Compensation: This is an unpaid position. Motivated interns will gain a greater understanding of collegiate strength and conditioning as well as improve their qualifications for future employment. The VCU Sports Performance Internship is an approved mentorship for SCCC Certification. Interns who complete the CSCCa mentorship requirements may receive endorsement for SCCC Certification.
