South Alabama University Department of Olympic Strength & Conditioning is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Fall 2018 internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting (Sunbelt). Individuals will be given specific teams to help throughout the semester, while also going through an internship curriculum that will encompass exercise not only science but also career development/personal development/ and people skills (in relating to talking to coaches, administration, Academics).
Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for assigned sports, attending to daily maintenance of the training facilities. Helping in the collection of data for analysis from Polar heart rate systems, Tendo units, and athlete monitoring questioners. The intern will also be responsible for keeping up with curriculum associated with the internship.
Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. This internship can also be used for the 640-hour mentorship to sit for the CSCCa certification.
Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. You will gain experience as well as the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of Strength & Conditioning. You will have access to help with the finding of housing, and potential part-time jobs to sustain you through your internship. Occasional meals will also be provided to prospective interns.
