Internship Dates: August 20, 2018 through June 30, 2019
The UC San Diego Athletic Performance Department is accepting applications for highly motivated candidates with a strong desire to work in a fast paced and competitive training environment. UC San Diego, located in La Jolla, in the San Diego Metropolitan area, enrolls over 35,000 students and is one of the University of California's 10 campuses. Triton Athletics has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence and sponsors 23 varsity sports. UC San Diego Athletics is reclassifying to NCAA Division I as a member of the Big West Conference. Triton Athletics won two of its last three and seventh overall California Collegiate Athletic Association Commissioner's Cups in 2017-18 and, placed among the top 10 in the nation in the Learfield Directors' Cup for the third straight year.
The expectation is to be available as your supervisor schedules to accomplish the learning objectives of the internship, which may include early morning, afternoon and early evening training times. They must possess strong knowledge of human physiology and anatomy, be able to demonstrate a wide variety of exercises and one to two years' experience coaching exercise prescription in a group setting. Former collegiate athlete experience preferred. Must possess First Aid and CPR certifications, be SCCC certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association or NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. Have a bachelor's degree or completing requirements to attain degree. Due to the nature of the duties as they relate to working with student - athletes a background check is required prior to the start of the internship.
