This is a part-time (.60 FTE), 12-month, annually renewable, unclassified position in the Athletics Department at Western Oregon University (WOU) in Monmouth. Intercollegiate Athletics provides learning opportunities and prepares students for a fulfilling life in a global society while supporting an accessible and diverse campus community.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Create, develop, and implement training and development for assigned sports, as well as assist the Director with all sports as it relates to injury prevention and performance enhancement

Provide a high-level of service delivery, which includes development of athletic performance enhancement programs, as it relates to injury prevention and performance enhancement

Collaborate frequently with licensed physical therapists and athletic trainers regarding the rehabilitation progress and return to participation/play planning of injured student-athletes

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with sport coaches and athletic department personnel

Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the Sports Performance training facility

Develop and implement the specific training programs for assigned sports

Maintain a safe environment for the WOU student athletes

Provide effective written and oral communication between student-athletes, coaches, administrators, athletic trainers, physical therapists and team physicians

Assist in the supervision and mentoring of students in the sports performance volunteer intern program

Provide leadership in administrative areas


WORKING CONDITIONS


Ability to work nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel with sports teams


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related discipline

Minimum two years of experience in sports performance/strength and conditioning at the NCAA Division I, II, Professional, or Olympic level

Minimum of two years of experience developing student-athletes in the field of sports performance

Demonstrated experience with programming performance enhancement programs for a variety of intercollegiate sports

Current CPR/AED and Strength & Conditioning Coaches (SCCC) or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certifications

Strong organizational and communication skills and a working knowledge of basic spreadsheet and word processing software


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree

Minimum of 2 years serving as a Graduate Assistant or full-time Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coach at a NCAA Division I or II university

Experience providing sports performance/strength training at a NCAA Division I or II university

Experience providing sports performance/strength training for a football program

First Aid certification
