University of Mobile’s Athletic Department is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant position in the Strength and Conditioning Program for the upcoming 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years. With supervision from the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, the candidate will develop and implement strength and conditioning sessions for assigned teams and travel with teams as needed. The candidate will assist the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach with duties such as facility maintenance and oversight, program development and implementation, data collection and input, and other duties as assigned by Strength Coach or Athletic Administration. The position will include duties to cover a 10 month period starting August 1 and ending May 31 each year.

University of Mobile is an NAIA Division I school that competes in the SSAC and has 18 sports. UM is located in south Alabama just a few exits north of Mobile. UM is a Christ-centered academic community providing liberal arts and professional programs to renew minds through intellectual and spiritual development for the fulfilling of one’s professional calling.

Compensation:
The Graduate Assistant position includes tuition and fees for 6 graduate credit hours each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer). On-Campus Housing (Fall, Spring, Summer) and a meal plan (Fall & Spring) are also included. The position is a two-year commitment. The position is renewable for the second year based on performance evaluations conducted by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at the end of the first year.

Requirements:
Bachleor’s degree in exercise science or related field is preferred. Acceptance into University of Mobile’s Graduate Program by August 1, 2019 and enrollment as a graduate student by the first day of class. SCCC or CSCS certification or proof of upcoming test date. First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Must maintain all certifications. Internship experience is preferred. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above. Must maintain at least 6 credit hours of graduate work per semester, maintain good academic standing and a GPA of 3.0 or above, serve as a GA for at least three-quarters of a semester, and abide by University of Mobile Student and Employee Handbooks. Christian who is an active member in a local church. Supports Statement of Christian Affirmation (https://umobile.edu/about/mission/). Demonstrates the Imago Dei of Christ (Gen 1:26) in all aspects of one’s professional role, personal interactions and community relations. An in-person, on-campus interview will be required of the finalists at their own expense.
