The Duquesne Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for interns for Summer 2019 academic semesters. This is a volunteer, UNPAID, position and offers Division I hands-on coaching experience in an educational environment and the opportunity for future recommendations and/or opportunities in the field of sports performance and potential credit towards degree completion as applicable.
Job duties will include (1.) assisting primarily with the daily operations of the Football strength and conditioning program, along with the Olympic sport programs, (2.) facility maintenance and upkeep, (3.) equipment set up and break down for all training sessions, and (4.) participation in our internship curriculum which includes educational sessions, program design and teaching proper technique and safety. Included within the curriculum is hands-on experience with the strength and conditioning based software called Teambuildr and velocity-based training systems, PUSH.
Applicants must be highly motivated, energetic, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Candidates will be expected to volunteer a minimum of 20hrs per week. May also be required to work some evenings and weekends.
Preferred qualifications include CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, currently working towards a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Exercise Science or in a related field, and have completed or are working toward a SCCC certification or CSCS certification.
