Team China is looking for qualified candidates to assist them in preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympic games in Tokyo, Japan, and the 2022 Winter Olympic Games held in Beijing, China. Qualified candidates must have a relentless work ethic, a strong desire to be involved in strength and conditioning at the international level, excellent written and oral communication skills, superb organizational skills, attention to detail, be flexible, and willing to travel. Applicants must be diligent and willing to learn other philosophies and cultures, be passionate about teaching/motivating athletes, and proficient at various computer/technology applications. They must be willing to work cooperatively with coaches and sports medicine staff, be able to adhere to all providence, national, and international Olympic committee regulations; and have familiarity and commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment. This position is full time, applicants can expect to gain valuable experience in the international sports arena working with professionals from around the world, have the opportunity to work with elite level athletes, and learn about new cultures. Purpose of the position is to provide technical and professional supervision over the development of elite athletes for Team China in preparation for the 2020 Olympic summer games, 2022 Olympic winter games, and other international athletic competition through the utilization of scientifically based principles of athletic performance training.
-Design and supervise year round strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports teams to optimize athletic performance and decrease injury potential
-Develop testing protocols to determine the effectiveness of strength and conditioning training plans
-Assists with teaching proper weight lifting, speed, agility, and conditioning techniques
-Assists in the implementation of rehab and reconditioning programs prescribed by the sports physiotherapist staff
-Supervise, instruct, and provide technical assistance in designing speed, strength, agility, and conditioning programs for assigned sports teams.
-Assist with testing and data collection with team sport scientist
-Assist with the maintenance of weight room equipment, to include equipment cleaning and repair
-Ensure compliance with weight room rules
-Maintain accurate records of athlete’s progress
-Work cooperatively with sport coaches in planning and coordination of strength and conditioning training plan with sports team training plan
-Communicate with supervisor, sport coaches, sport scientist, and sports physiotherapist staff
-Comply with providence, national, and international Olympic federation rules and regulations
Marginal/Incidental functions: Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
-Bachelor’s degree in area that provides a knowledge base in exercise physiology and athletic performance
-Three years of work experience as a full time strength and conditioning coach in NCAA Division I,II,or III Olympic sports, professional sports, and/or international level sports
-Certification from a nationally accredited organization specializing in athletic performance training
-Excellent communication skills
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Demonstrate ability to effectively work with male and female athletes
-AHA Adult CPR, AED certification
-Master’s degree in area that provides a knowledge base in exercise physiology and athletic performance
-Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association
-Previous playing and or coaching experience with Olympic sports at the collegiate level
-Experience with programming design for Olympic sports programs
-Olympic Weightlifting background in teaching, coaching, and instructing
-Knowledge and support of IOC rules and regulations
-Documented success implementing a performance training system
Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished). May work in all weather
conditions. May work in extreme temperatures. May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Climbing of stairs. Climbing of ladders. Lifting and moving of heavy objects up to 100 lbs.
