Catawba College is looking for qualified candidates for our Volunteer Internship Program for the Fall of 2019. Catawba College is a member of the NCAA Division II’s South Atlantic Conference.
This is an unpaid position. Compensation will include Sports Performance attire/gear, learning from an approved mentor via the CSCCa, potential to sit for the SCCC certification in May, an opportunity to design and implement year-round programs for varsity teams, and recommendations for future career opportunities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of the sports performance program at Catawba College, assist with football and other assigned sports, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of an extensive internship curriculum.
Required qualifications include a very strong work ethic, completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or related course of study, and a desire to become a collegiate or professional strength and conditioning coach.
Preferred applicants will have a current CSCS certification and working towards SCCC certification. Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport.
Effective August 1st, 2015, NCAA legislation mandates that only certified personnel can coach athletes unsupervised, therefore current SCCC or CSCS certification is highly desired. Applicants without their SCCC or CSCS can still design and implement programs under the supervision of certified staff.
Applications will be accepted until July 12th, 2019. SCCC and CSCS certified applicants will receive preference. Interested candidates can email a resume and three references to Wayne Adams, Director of Sports Performance at firstname.lastname@example.org.
