Strength and Conditioning Coach

Job Purpose

Army West Point Athletics Association is looking for a Strength and Conditioning Coach to assist with the design and implementation of the sports performance programs to enhance athletic performance, minimize injury potential and support the cadet-athletes. The ideal candidate will be a team player, as he/she will work in coordination with sports medicine, nutrition, and analytics to develop a high-performance team. The primary responsibilities of the desired candidate in that team will be to design and develop strength and conditioning programs for women’s lacrosse to enhance on-field performance, identify and conduct appropriate tests to evaluate performance, work in coordination with sports medicine to reduce injury risk, and collect data as required by analytics to continually monitor cadet-athletes. The ideal candidate will have a background in collegiate strength and conditioning, preferably with lacrosse.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop, coach, and monitor strength and conditioning programs for assigned athletic teams.
- Work in coordination with sports medicine, nutrition, analytics to develop a high-performance team
- Develop and/or assist in the delivery of programs to reduce injury risk and enhance performance.
- Teach proper lifting technique and assist in spotting heavy lifts.
- Assist in testing, computation of results, and evaluation of individual cadet-athletes in cooperation with High Performance team.
- Assist in the general maintenance and cleaning of the facility and its equipment.
- Supervises injured athletes’ training in cooperation with Training Staff and High Performance Team.
- Maintain database for all training records.
- Organize, implement and assist in educational workshops and lectures.
- Keeps abreast of the current trends of Strength and Conditioning for peak performance.
- Assist in the coordination of summer training programs required by cadet-athletes
- Assist in the planning of short- and long-term goals of the High-Performance department.
- Travel; depending on competitive schedule.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Kinesiology or related field (strength and conditioning).
- CSCCA or CSCS certification
- 2 plus years’ relevant experience working with high school, college, and/or elite level athletes
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Knowledge of teaching methods.
- Knowledge of variety of sports.
- Knowledge of NCAA guidelines.
- Skill in effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in women’s lacrosse

Working conditions

- Perform duties during flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Travel as necessary
- Ability to lift and move heavy loads: > 75 lbs

Physical requirements

- Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
- Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
- Lifting and moving objects and equipment >75 lbs.

Salary Range

$40,000 to $45,000
