Texas A&M University - Commerce, a NCAA Division II institution, which competes in the Lone Star Conference, invites applications for the position of Sports Performance Graduate Assistant Coach.
TAMU-Commerce has over 400 student/athletes in various highly competitive programs. Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. The program is designed to provide each participant with a holistic and valuable practical experience in the field of Strength and Conditioning.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
-Assist the Senior Director of Sports Performance/Director of Sports Performance with all assigned tasks
-Attend weekly training seminars on teaching correct techniques for appropriate workout regimens
-Teach athletes proper technique and perform diagnostic bio-mechanical analysis of an athlete’s movement
-Program design & responsibility for 1-3 assigned sports teams
-Maintain a neat and clean facility for use by varsity student athletes
-Assist in supervision and safety, including but not limited to spotting of heavy lifts
-Assist with the input of test data, research, and testing, and discussion of professionalism, & budgets,
-Effectively and properly motivate athletes to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance
-Make sure all weights are in proper place throughout the day
-Help monitor the training of injured athletes
-Assist with F.A.S.T.E.R. fueling station.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Sports Performance or Director of Sports Performance
-Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning.
-Candidate must be accepted into a Graduate program at the university and maintain satisfactory progress towards degree completion to maintain the position.
-Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
-1-2 years of coaching experience in the weight room, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Bachelor's degree in Strength & Conditioning or related field from an accredited
university or college.
-2-4 years of Coaching experience in the weight room, or any equivalent combination of
education and experience.
-Proficient in Excel
-Pay for Graduate Assistant includes six credit hours and $8,000 stipend per academic
-Out-of-state candidates may be eligible for an In-State tuition waiver
-CSCCa - SCCC or NSCA - CSCS
-Ability to lift 45lbs at a time
-Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
-Must be able to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, to perform job
-Must handle any confidential information accordingly.
-This position is security-sensitive.
