The Illinois State University Strength and Conditioning Staff is currently seeking applications for one Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Intern for the Summer Semester of 2021. This internship opportunity will be “UNPAID” beginning on June 1, 2021 and ending July 31st. The intern will assist with all Olympic Sports, and will also have the opportunity to assist with Football. Preferred applicants must have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, be detail oriented, have previous training experience, and have a desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Strength and Conditioning Staff in all aspects of program administration, data management, facility upkeep, and participation in an internship curriculum. Within the ISU Strength and Conditioning program, you will follow a protocol that allows you to learn how to: learn and teach proper lifting position and technique, research relevant training modalities, develop training programs and manipulate those programs based on time of year, sport-specificity, exercise progression, periodization, and utilization of available equipment. Applicants should have or be working towards a nationally accredited certification in strength and conditioning. Intern applicants must be CPR/AED certified.
