Heart Rate and GPS Implementation in a Year-Round Holistic System

Coaches all around have the unique challenge of being able to take in data and understand how it can be applied to athletic development year round. With the Use of the Intent system and Polar we are able to understand what information we are gathering and how it can immediately have an effect and impact on the training for that day, however once the players leave we often see a drop off in accountability, sustainability, and overall guidance on the development of those players. Through this talk we will take a look at how with the use of this technology we can implement a year round model that will allow for continual athletic development.

Justin Roethlingshoefer is currently the strength and performance coach for the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League. He supervises the club's strength and conditioning program for all players. He also conducts all the fatigue and data management for the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL and sends reporting to the head strength coach Mark Fitzgerald. Prior to this Justin has worked with the Edmonton Oilers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Hockey Canada, University of Louisville and Miami University. Justin has a Bachelor of Science in Movement Science from Westfield State University and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Louisville and is a certified strength and conditioning coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As a leader in the field he is also co author of an amazon best seller, Intent: A Practical Approach to Applied Sport Science for Athletic Development, and owner of the software system Inent. He is the founder of The Hockey Summit, an all inclusive training facility for NHL and AHL players in Estero Florida, the techniques and philosophies used in the book are the same that he utilizes with the players on a day to day basis. He is a certified as a strength and conditioning coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Precision Nutrition (PN) certified, Kinesiotape certified, and massage therapy license.
