Moderating: The Cares and Concerns of the Young Strength and Conditioning Coach Roundtable

Prior to his employment Exos, Coach Perez most recently served at Appalachian State University as an assistant strength and conditioning coach/intern coordinator from 2016-2019. Prior to his full time employment, Juan interned at Western Washington University, University of Portland, and the University of Washington. While working at Western Washington he primarily worked with men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer, and softball, and was also given the responsibility of on-boarding freshman athletes and teaching them how to train in the current system. Dually, he acquired his Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a focus in movement studies. During his time at the University of Portland, Juan worked largely with men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer, and volleyball. At the University of Portland, Juan assisted in implementing athlete monitoring strategies, and has implemented some of those strategies at Appalachian State. During his time at the University of Washington he assisted with all Olympic sports teams in various roles, and worked largely with men’s and women’s basketball. At Appalachian State, Juan worked with all varsity teams during his tenure, but was directly in charge of men’s and women’s soccer, track and field throwers, cross country, women’s tennis, and men’s golf. In addition, he holds certifications from the CSCCa, the NSCA, USAW, IYCA and acquired his master’s degree in exercise science with a focus in strength and conditioning from Appalachian State University.

Juan Is an author/editor of, The Gamut of Performance: The Young Strength and Conditioning Coach’s Guide to Success, in conjunction with being the creator and host of the Gamut of Performance Podcast. He has spoken at the NSCA Oregon State Clinic on, Structuring a Speed School/ Conditioning Session for Team- Sport Athletes’, and served on the advisory board for the NC State chapter of the NSCA.
