BIO

Director of Sports Performance at the University of Louisville Teena Murray oversees athlete development and performance for the Cardinals’ 21 Olympic sports- and works directly with the women’s basketball and softball programs. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the graduate program in Exercise Science at Louisville, and owner of Athlete Construction (LLC).

From 2006-2010, Teena was the head strength and conditioning coach for the U.S. Women’s National and Olympic ice hockey teams. During her 4 years with Team USA, Teena helped the team to gold medals in 2 out of 3 World Championships and an Olympic silver medal.

In her 17 years in the strength and conditioning industry Teena has worked collegiately at Cornell, UCONN and Louisville. She has also worked as a consultant to the Ducks of Anaheim and Florida Panthers of the NHL, the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League, USA Hockey, and the International Ice Hockey Federation. She has coached top draft picks in the WNBA and NHL, Olympic medalists, World Champions and countless All-Americans.

On the research front, Teena has published numerous research and practical training articles. Her specific research interest focuses on the performance profiling of elite athletes.

A native of Canada, Teena holds a Master’s degree is Exercise Physiology, and undergraduate degrees in kinesiology and education. She is a Master Coach with the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches’ Association and is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, United States Weightlifting, Functional Movement Systems and Precision Nutrition.
