Christopher Doyle

Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, University of Iowa

Chris Doyle is a 22-year coaching veteran in his 14th year at Iowa. Prior to coming to the University of Iowa, Doyle held coaching positions at Utah, Wisconsin, Holy Cross, Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Boston University.

Doyle has helped the Hawkeye program become bowl eligible the past 11 years straight. In addition, the Hawkeyes have ranked in the final top 10 of both major polls four times within the past 10 seasons. Iowa has appeared in six January bowl games since 2003.

Doyle has tutored 155 student-athletes who have advanced to the professional ranks in the NFL, NHL, and NBA. Iowa has had a total of 30 players selected in the past seven NFL drafts, including six in both the 2010 and 2011 drafts. Doyle has sent 23 Iowa athletes to the NFL Combine over the past three years, six more than any other Big Ten school. During a two year period (2003 and 2004), Iowa had 5 walk-ons drafted by the NFL.

Over the past 10 years, 90% of Iowa's senior starters were selected in the NFL draft or signed to an NFL free agent contract. In 2011, Doyle had 12 rookies in NFL camps.

Doyle earned his B.S. in Human Movement from Boston University in 1990 and his M.Ed. in Education in 1991. In addition, Chris played football there, and, was a strength athlete, competing in the National Championship in three different sports: Powerlifting, Highland Games, as well as Strongman.

Doyle is from Quincy, Massachusetts, and attended Boston College High School. He was inducted into the Boston College High School Hall of Fame in November of 2004. Chris and his wife, Tia, met at Boston University where she played basketball. Chris and Tia have three sons, Declan, Donovan, and Dillon.
