Zach Duval

Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Zach Duval became Wyoming's Director of Sports Performance and Head Football Strength Coach in 2014 after serving in the same role at the University of Buffalo for four seasons.

While at Buffalo, Duval coached All-America linebacker Khalil Mack, who earned First Team All-America honors his senior season and was taken as the fifth overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, as well as receiving numerous other awards and honors. Buffalo earned a berth in the 2013 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, playing against San Diego State.
Duval brings a wealth of experience in strength and conditioning both at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level and in private business.

He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant in the University of Nebraska "Husker Power" strength training program in 1995. Duval was elevated to the position of football strength coach at Nebraska in 1997 and held this position until 2002. During his eight years with the Huskers, NU won both the 1995 and 1997 National Championships.

In 2002, Duval entered private business, founding the Xplosive Edge performance center. His company developed specialized computer software to be utilized by strength-training professionals. Duval's company was involved in both athletic performance and management of a wellness spa. During his time in private business, he co-owned and managed The Performance and Wellness Institute in Greeley, Colorado. He was in private business for six years until 2007, returning to Nebraska for the 2008 season.

Prior to taking over as Director of Sports Performance at Buffalo, Duval was the Director of Athletic Performance at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where he developed and supervised strength and conditioning programs for Creighton's 14 NCAA Division I athletic programs. He also had oversight over nutrition for the Bluejays' athletics teams in 2009.
