San Jose State University (SJSU) is currently seeking 3 qualified candidates for the position of Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Performance Department. Reporting to the Head Athletic Performance Coach of Olympic Sports, the capable candidates will have the opportunity to program and administer athletic performance programs for 3-4 assigned Olympic sports. Two candidates will have the opportunity to assist with Football in addition to their Olympic sport responsibilities, and one candidate will solely work with Olympic sports.

Responsibilities: Each candidate will assist the Athletic Performance staff with all aspects of a 22-sport Division 1 athletic program and must adhere to all university, conference and NCAA regulations. Candidates must be able to demonstrate and teach a variety of Olympic lifts, basic strength movements, and diverse movement skills. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: enforcing the policies, procedures and regulations that oversee all activities in the Koret Athletic Training Center, perform basic equipment, cleaning and overall facility maintenance, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology or related field; and admittance into or pending admission into a Master’s Degree program at SJSU; a strong desire to be involved in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level; must currently hold (or able to obtain within 90 days of appointment) certification with the CSCCa (SCCC) or the NSCA (CSCS); proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and must be diligent and willing to take initiative.

Compensation: $1,250 stipend issued monthly for 12 months. Stipend may be applied towards SJSU tuition. No tuition waivers are available.
