Rachel Suba has been a collegiate Sports Dietitian for 8 yearsand has merged herlove ofsports andfood into a careerwhere she bridgesthe gap between optional fueland elite-level performance.Rachel Suba is the current Director of Sports Nutrition at the University of Southern Californiawhereshe manages the nutrition care for the Trojan football programwhile managing a team of 6 full-time dietitians and 30 undergraduate and graduate nutrition interns. Coach Lincoln Riley and staff brought Suba with them from the University of Oklahoma in Spring of 2022.A former competitive gymnast and current powerlifter, the Cleveland, Ohio, native puts her background in culinary arts to use in keeping USC student-athletes fueled for success. Suba aims to leave an impact that stretches beyond the playing fieldand educatingher athletes how all foods fit into a championshipcaliberroutine.She previously served as the Director of Sports Nutrition at the University of Oklahoma (OU) from February 2020 until April 2022. Suba spent 6.5 years in total at OU (2016-2022) where she held 3 positions: Graduate Assistant Sports Dietitian (Jan 2016 —August2017), Assistant Directorof Sports Nutrition(August 2017 —February2020) and Director (February2020 —April 2022). During her time with the Sooners, Suba was part of 23 Big 12 conference titles (5 football, 5 men’s gymnastics, 1 wrestling, 2 men’s golf, 5 women’s gymnastics, and 5 softball), 12 national championships (4 women’s gymnastics, 4 softball, 3 men’s gymnastics, and 1 men’s golf), 3College Football Playoff semifinal appearances(Rose 2017, Orange 2018, Peach 2019),3bowl games(Sugar 2016, Cotton 2020, and Alamo 2022), 6 wrestling NCAA tournamentappearances, 4 NCAA March Madnesstournamentappearances,and worked alongside 2 Heisman trophy winners: Baker Mayfield and KylerMurray. Prior toOU, Suba began her career as a Dietitian working in cooperatewellness and nutrition consulting.She earnedher bachelor's degree with distinction in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Akron where she also interned with the Zips athletic department for over two years. She also earnedher master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education with an emphasis inIntercollegiate Athletics from The University of Oklahoma.Suba is credentialed as a Licensed Dietitian (LD), Registered Dietitian (RD), and a Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).Suba is anactive member of the national and local chapters of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics(AND), Collegiate & Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA), and Sports& Human Performance Nutrition Practice Group (SHPN).
