Oral Roberts University Department of Sports Performance is now accepting applications for the position of Professional Intern Sports Performance Coach for the 2017-2018 academic year. This is a nine-month stipend position, with the opportunity for renewal. Projected start date of August 7, 2017. Potential candidates will receive hands on experience in coaching, implementation of program design, nutrition education, and facility maintenance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: design and implementation of programing for assigned athletic teams, assisting staff with the development and implementation of training programs for various sports; demonstrating and teaching proper lifting and running mechanics; maintaining the upkeep of facilities; and participation in various academic projects. This is a professional paid internship position in which you will be responsible for your own assigned teams. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience coaching, programming, working with sport coaches, and seeing the process of your program. The goal of this internship is to set the potential candidate up for a successful graduate assistant position.
Potential candidates should have at least 1-2 years of collegiate sports performance experience, preferably at the Division 1 level. Candidates must be SCCC or CSCS certified. Candidates should have a strong desire to pursue a career in sports performance, be an individual of high moral character, and display interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate must have the ability to motivate student-athletes and work cooperatively with administration, sport coaches and sport medicine staff.
