The Murray State Strength and Conditioning department has a number of unpaid internship opportunities available for the spring of 2018. These positions are designed to engage students who actively seek a career as a strength and conditioning coach in the day-to-day operations of a collegiate weight room. Students will be exposed to all facets of NCAA Div.1 Football (FCS) and Olympic strength and conditioning programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the daily operations of the weight room, helping to create a positive training environment, record keeping, and facility and equipment maintenance.
These positions provide the opportunity to gain experience and examine career opportunities in intercollegiate athletics while working in a dynamic, exciting and collaborative environment. Students are encouraged to examine all aspects of the strength and conditioning program in an effort to maximize exposure to potential career opportunities.
Individuals must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse community and advance the Department's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Ideal candidates will be certified or actively pursuing certification from CSCCa and/or NSCA. Preference will be given to candidates who are enrolled in a strength and conditioning educational curriculum and need internship hours as part of their educational requirements. Interns should be prepared to work a variety of times including days, nights, weekends and holidays. All interns will receive instruction in and be required to comply with--NCAA regulations and policies.
