The William and Mary Athletic Performance Department is accepting applications for the 2019 Spring Semester. The official start date for this position will be Wednesday January 9th 2019 and continue through May 8th 2019.
Though this is an unpaid position. Successful applicants should expect to benefit from exposure to the working environment of Division 1 Athletics, continuing high performance education, and the opportunity to further develop as coaches and technicians in a practical setting.
Interns will be expected to support the daily functioning of the department: administrative and maintenance; session set-up and break-down, data collection, processing and management, research and project development, and most importantly, assisting with coaching the athletes.
Essential qualifications: be a self-starter, display critical thinking and creative problem solving. Be able to show that you are already coaching athletes in some capacity, and that you have more than just academic knowledge. Demonstrate that you are taking the necessary steps to become a qualified coach, and develop your skills as a technician.
Preferred qualifications: undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related field and/or relevant industry accreditation e.g. SCCC, CSCS, UKSCA, ASCA etc. Candidates must email a SHORT letter of application, and ONE PAGE resume including the names of three references to Athletic Performance Coach Scott Kuehn: firstname.lastname@example.org.
