Human Performance Coach
Location: Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas
Seeking a highly motivated Human Performance Coach (HPC) to support a government performance program consisting of classroom instruction based on the principles of Sports Psychology as well as leading strength and conditioning initiatives.
The teaching specifically focuses on how to acquire and apply specific mental skills and techniques that cultivate the mental and emotional strength necessary to thrive in an era of overwhelming demands and persistent obstacles. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for strength and conditioning initiatives such as establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for military service members with the three major goals of improving performance, reducing injuries and teaching lifelong fitness. The HPC devises training plans according to sound scientific principles, supervises training sessions, evaluates service members, maintains records, and teaches strength and conditioning classes as needed. The HPC is responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facility, and for establishing policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
-Attend training exercises and field operations as requested by individual units to coach leaders on the acquisition of performance psychology techniques and their application to individual tasks and unit operations
-Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in a manner that reflects research-driven practices and our country's Long-Term Athletic/Fitness Development Model.
-Facilitate a collaborative relationship among mental performance coaches and military cadre.
-Develop systems for tracking attendance and progress in conjunction with the cadre.
-Annually conduct and review a departmental risk management plan.
Required Experience and Skills:
-Must be able to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
-Experience working with adult clients developing performance enhancement skills, education, and training for use in a physical or motor performance arena
-A current relevant professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency-for example, CSCCa Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification or the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
-A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.
-Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming
-Strong motivational abilities.
-Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
-Knowledge of current NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards and Guidelines.
-Must know how to operate strength training equipment, automated external defibrillator (AED), and sports aid equipment.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or Sports Psychology
-Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology or Kinesiology Preferred
