The Duquesne Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for interns for the Fall 2019 academic semester. This is a volunteer, UNPAID, position and offers Division I hands-on coaching experience in an educational environment and the opportunity for future recommendations and/or opportunities in the field of sports performance and potential credit towards degree completion as applicable.
Job duties will include:
-assisting primarily with the daily operations of the Football strength and conditioning program, along with the Olympic sport programs
-facility maintenance and upkeep
-equipment set up and break down for all training sessions
-participation in our internship curriculum which includes educational sessions, program design and teaching proper technique and safety.
-Included within the curriculum is hands-on experience with the strength and conditioning based software called Teambuildr and velocity-based training systems, PUSH.
Applicants must be highly motivated, energetic, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Candidates will be expected to volunteer a minimum of 20hrs per week. May also be required to work some evenings and weekends.
Preferred qualifications include CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, currently working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Exercise Science or in a related field, and have completed or are working toward a SCCC certification or CSCS certification.
