The University of New Hampshire’s Department of Strength & Conditioning is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill 2-3 openings for Volunteer Coaching Assistant positions for the 2020/21 Fall and Spring semesters.
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Assisting the full time staff with the supervision and execution of the training program for various sports, including Football
-Set up and break down of equipment in the weight room/on the field
-Enforce the rules and philosophy of the Strength & Conditioning department
-Serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes
-Teaching proper exercise technique and equipment use
-Attending to daily maintenance of the training facility and administrative tasks
Early mornings along with evening hours should be expected and the applicant should be prepared to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. These positions offer the opportunity to have hands-on coaching experience with groups/teams, and the possibility of leading groups/teams through workouts.
Minimum Qualifications: -Currently pursuing or has attained a bachelors/master’s degree in Exercise/Physiology or related field
-A strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning coach
-First Aid/CPR and AED certified.
Applicants should be an enthusiastic, self-starter that is responsible and punctual who can ACTIVELY coach athletes to excel.
Preferred requirements: -Pursuing or holding a CSCCa, NSCA, or USAW certification(s) is strongly desired
-Playing and/or coaching at the collegiate level and experience working in a group/team training environment
Potential interns will have the opportunity to obtain Practicum Hourly Requirements needed for the Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) by an approved mentor, Paul Chapman.
Compensation: This is an UNPAID volunteer position, with the opportunity to earn limited income through various programs. Applicants will gain valuable experience in a Division I university as well as possible recommendations for future career opportunities.
