T.J. Greenstone

Programming and Periodization: Considerations to Maximize your Olympic Style Lifts

T.J. Greenstone joined the Butler Athletic Department and the program’s strength and conditioning staff in September of 2018. He is currently in charge of the development of Football, and Men’s Soccer. During his career, Greenstone has aided in the development of 89 Conference Post-Seas Award winners, 6 All Americans, 2 Team Conference Championships, 1 Coach of the Year, 2 MLB Draft picks, 2 NFL Draft picks, 2 MLS Draft picks, and 1 Olympic Trials participant.

Greenstone arrived at Butler from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he served as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for football. Before his time at Southern Miss, Greenstone served as the Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning for Tennessee State University where he directly oversaw the development of 15 athletic programs. Before TSU, Greenstone also spent time at Georgia Tech and the University of Evansville.

Greenstone graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he was a football student-athlete. He was named the team captain in 2010. He was also named to the Freshman All-SEC Team, a Second Team Freshman All-American, and was recognized as the Vanderbilt Football Lifter of the Year during his freshman season. After his time at Vanderbilt, Greenstone began competing in the sport of weightlifting eventually winning the National Championship in his weight class in 2019.

While at Vanderbilt, Greenstone received his Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development. Greenstone also earned his Master of Arts in Exercise Science and Physical Wellness from Tennessee Tech in 2017. He is currently working on his MBA through Butler University. He is certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, has attained his USA Weightlifting Level 2 certification, and is a national coach’s education instructor for USA Weightlifting. Greenstone and his wife, Jenny, have three children, Jackson, Nolan, Easton, and reside in Greenwood, IN.
