Bradley Ohrt

Director of Sports Performance

Brad Ohrt enters his 18th season in college football and his fourth as Director of Sports Performance at Northern Illinois University. Working primarily with the Huskie football program, NIU has appeared in three-straight Mid-American Conference championship games, winning the league title in 2011 and 2012 during his tenure. In addition to the team's success, Brad has worked with two league MVPs and one Heisman Trophy finalist.

Brad joined NIU after spending three seasons at Western Carolina where he was director of strength and conditioning. He also served as head strength coach at Western Kentucky (2005-07), Louisiana-Lafayette (2002-05) and Wingate University (1997-98).

While Brad possesses a wealth of experience working with football programs, he has worked with the men's and women's basketball teams as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at USC and men's basketball and baseball teams at Louisiana-Lafayette.

Brad earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Appalachian State University in 1994. A three-year letter winner for the Mountaineers, he earned All-Southern Conference honors his junior and senior year and was named a first-team FCS All-American by The Sports Network and was a third-team selection by the Associated Press. Brad earned his master's degree from Kansas in 1997 where he was a graduate assistant coach on the Jayhawks strength and conditioning staff.

Brad is thankful for having the opportunity to work with numerous strength and conditioning professionals over the years that have helped mold his career in many ways. He is grateful to have an outstanding staff at NIU and would like to thank them for their efforts over the past three years. Brad would also like to thank his wife, Ashley, for her support in his career over the past 18 years.
