Rai Braithwaite

Director of Strength & Conditioning-Football

Raimond Braithwaite is in his 5th year as Director of Strength and Conditioning with the University of Iowa football program. Raimond first joined the Iowa football program in 2002 after serving as an intern at Florida State University during the fall of 2001. In 2005, he left Iowa for a position as the Head Strength & Conditioning coach at Delaware State until 2007.

While at Delaware State, Raimond was responsible for all aspects of the strength and conditioning program and helped the Hornet football program to a 25-9 record in three seasons, finishing 10-2 in 2007- the best season in school history, and winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a perfect 8-0 record. Raimond was also instrumental in the design of a new 10,000 square-foot weight facility at Delaware State- one of the largest in the region. In 2008, he returned to the University of Iowa in the role of head assistant.

Raimond earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Science from the University of West Florida in 1999 and earned his M.S. in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University in 2001. He is both SCCC and USAW Level 1 Certified.

Coach Braithwaite would like to thank the following individuals: Chris Doyle for being a great friend and mentor Jon Jost for giving him his first opportunity in collegiate strength and conditioning; James Dobson, Brian Dermody, Charlie Melton, and Bryan McCall for their guidance to a young and inexperienced strength coach. His parents for believing in him and supporting him through all of his endeavors. His wife, Jenny, and children- Maxine, Cameron, and Conner, for their daily motivation and support.
