John Ciani

Assistant Director

John Ciani began his career in Strength and Conditioning after graduating from Long Beach State. His first job was as a Graduate Intern at his alma mater where he worked with Baseball, Mens and Womens Basketball and Womens Volleyball. Along with getting his start in Strength & Conditioning at Long Beach State, Ciani was able to learn from Exercise Science researcher Dr. John Garhammer and worked with and trained Volleyball great Misty May-Treanor. He continued his career as a Graduate Assistant at the University of North Dakota under MSCC Paul Chapman. During his tenure at UND, Ciani worked primarily with the 2001 Division II National Champion Football team, Swimming & Diving and assisted with Baseball and Volleyball.

In 2002, Ciani began at the University of New Hampshire, where he has worked with a variety of teams from Football and Hockey to Nordic Skiing and Gymnastics and in 2006 was promoted to Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning. Currently, Ciani works primarily with Football, Mens and Womens Basketball, Field Hockey, Womens Soccer and Swimming & Diving. While at UNH, Ciani has trained and worked with 14 Conference Players of the Year, numerous All-Americans and countless All-Conference Selections. More importantly, Cianis efforts have contributed to a total of 18 Conference Championships. In addition, Cianis contributions are highlighted by the Mens Basketball team having the most wins in a 4 year span in program history and Football making the FCS playoffs 13 straight years in a row.

John would like to thank all the sport coaches that have helped develop and mentor him along the way, in particular Head Football Coach Sean McDonnell and Mens Basketball Head Coach Bill Herrion.

Ciani wants to thank fellow MSCC coaches, Todd Smith, Nate Baukol, Jared Nessland and Nick Zostautas for their continued support and guidance. A special thank you to MSCC Paul Chapman for being a great mentor, boss and friend over the years in all things career and life.

Lastly, Coach Ciani would like to thank his family especially his wife, Angela, and son, Brennan for their love, patience and caring they have always given him.
