Accountabilities:

Responsible for strategic leadership of all activities and outcomes for the strength and conditioning of all men's and women's varsity sports program. These will include sustained performance and execution in the following areas:

-Designing and implementing sport specific strength and conditioning programs for each varsity sport.

-Effectively communication with a diverse population of student-athletes.

-Student-athlete welfare.

-Overseeing the coordination of scheduling weight room training for the various athletic programs.

-Instructing student-athletes in the proper and safe techniques of weight training, plyometrics, speed development drills, conditioning exercises and agility movements that are current and scientifically valid.

-Educating student-athletes in the area of performance enhancement.

-Effectively work and communicate with head coaches and administrators.

-Effectively work, communicate and build collaborative relationships with athletic training staff.

Responsible for development of policies and protocols that ensure a safe and effective working environment in the varsity weight room through inspection of all equipment, appropriately setting up the facility and monitoring each team's training sessions, when staffing permits.

Independent and unchallengeable decision-making regarding all student-athlete participation in strength and conditioning activities. Accountable for student-athlete welfare while coaching.

Accountable for coordination, scheduling and maintenance of weight room/strength facility.

Accountable for creating a safe and inclusive environment for all student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

Effectively identifies strength and conditioning equipment and facility needs.

Ensures all student-athlete injuries are properly reported to appropriate medical staff per current protocol. All student-athlete injures reported to the strength and conditioning staff should be addressed appropriately in that student's strength and conditioning program.

Responsible for budget development and management for strength and conditioning department.

Attend and actively participate in monthly compliance meetings and department director meetings.

Participation in campus and university collaborations and initiatives as appropriate.

Responsible for the effective supervision of staff as assigned. Ensures selection and hiring of high quality employees; ensures appropriate distribution of work assignments and high quality of employee work product; ensures fair and accurate performance assessments and feedback to include identifying areas for professional development and documenting and conducting disciplinary measures, as needed. Responsible for providing fair and accurate input to supervisor regarding employment status (hire, promotion, salary increases, termination); ensures the creation of effective opportunities and programs for employee mentoring, development and sustained performance.

Responsible for budget development and management for sports performance department.

Responsible for the job evaluation, development and continued professional growth of all direct reports.

Responsible for role modeling behaviors and leadership for student-athletes.

Knowledge of all NCAA banned substances.

Accountable for creating a culture of compliance within program to all relevant governing bodies to include:

-NCAA

-Patriot League

-athletic department

-university policies

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), in accordance with the federal statutory requirements of the Jeanne Clery Act. CSAs are required to and responsible for reporting allegations of crimes they receive from students and employees to the Campus Safety Department.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

5-8 years experience as a college strength and conditioning coach.

Must be in good standing with one of the recognized national organizations (NSCA or CSCCa) and possess either a CSCS from the SCCC from the CSCCa or NSCA.

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience leading/directing a collegiate strength and conditioning program preferred.

-Division 1 experience is preferred.

-Demonstrated experience implementing and/or using strength and conditioning technology for the purposes of: load management, performance inefficiencies, and general status.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree is required.

A Master’s degree is preferred.
