Mesa Community College is now accepting applications for CSCS or CSCCA certified volunteer (unpaid) interns.
This is a unique position where interns will support both MCC Athletics and the Exercise Science Department’s Human Performance Lab. This will involve the possibility of working with 16 different sports as well as a state-of-the art equipment such as Noraxon EMG, Output velocity-based training, metabolic testing (Parvomedics metabolic cart, VO2 master mobile) and Fit 3D infrared body scan.
Under the direction of the Head Sports Performance Coach, daily responsibilities with MCC Athletics may include but are not limited to: daily facility maintenance, supervision and execution of strength and speed training programs for all of MCC’s athletic teams, proper movement preparation, and most importantly developing an understanding of the health, safety, and well-being of collegiate athletes. Responsibilities within the Exercise Science Department may include but are not limited to: fitness testing, setting up, supporting and/or facilitating class lab sessions in the Human Performance Lab, performing routine maintenance and cleaning within the lab.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: CSCCA or NSCA Strength and Conditioning Certification; Bachelors or Masters in Exercise Science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid.
Potential candidates must possess a strong work ethic and character, great energy and enthusiasm, as well as the ability to demonstrate effective organization and communication skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with athletic teams, experience in a collegiate setting.
COMPENSATION: This is an unpaid volunteer position. Volunteer interns will have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. If accepted, applicants will be required to complete and clear a background check.
