The University of Delaware Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for a VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams for the 2024-2025 season. The internship will begin on October 1st, 2024, and run through March or April 2025. Please note that this is an unpaid position, and no housing or meals will be provided.
Qualifications:
Priority will be given to candidates currently pursuing or holding an MS degree in Exercise Science or a related field.
A BS degree in Exercise Science or a related field and certification through the NSCA or CSCCa are required.
Preferred CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.
Selected interns will have the opportunity to complete the CSCCa 640-hour Practicum under an approved CSCCa mentor.
Responsibilities:
Assist with workout implementation and lead groups.
Assist with practice and game day warm-ups, post-practice cool-downs, and game day primer workouts.
Occasional travel with both teams for select games.
The role requires availability for weekday and weekend work and travel.
Support data analytics, including the use of Sparta Force Plates, EliteForm VBT, Smartabase Athlete, and Stat Sports GPS.
Aid in program design and annual planning.
Set up and break down weight training and conditioning sessions for Men’s & Women’s Basketball.
General maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities.
Assist with sports performance nutrition.
Ideal Candidates:
This position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a career in sports performance coaching. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a collegiate strength and conditioning program and will have the opportunity to engage in professional development through curriculum assignments and discussions.
