Position Overview:
WSU is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Strength Coach to join our athletic department. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs that enhance the performance and well-being of our student-athletes across assigned sports.
Key Responsibilities:
-Design, implement, and oversee strength and conditioning programs tailored to the specific needs of student-athletes.
-Conduct assessments to evaluate athletic performance and monitor progress.
-Collaborate with coaches, sports medicine staff, nutritionists & academic staff to ensure comprehensive athlete development.
-Educate student-athletes on proper lifting techniques, injury prevention, and recovery.
-Maintain a safe and organized training environment.
-Stay current with industry trends, research, and best practices in strength and conditioning.
-Mentor and guide assistant strength coaches and interns.
-Participate in professional development activities and continue education in the field.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
-Previous experience in strength and conditioning, preferably at the collegiate or professional level.
-Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and foster a positive team culture.
-Commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience working with baseball and/or W Soccer.
-Knowledge of sport-specific training methodologies and recovery strategies.
-Familiarity with VBT, Forceplate, GPS technology and software related to performance assessment and monitoring.
