The University of Nevada Las Vegas Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking highly motivated individuals who are looking to further develop as a strength and conditioning coach. For our volunteer internship program, interns will have the opportunity to work with all Olympic Sports teams (non-football).
This is an unpaid position. Successful applicants will gain valuable experience working with Division-I athletes, knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a Division-I strength and conditioning program, and potential class credit.
Daily responsibilities include assisting with facility maintenance, equipment and training set up/breakdown, supervision of athlete’s training sessions, lifting demonstrations, and working on professional development assignments/projects assigned by the internship supervisor.
You will have the opportunity to go through a strength and conditioning curriculum to better yourself as a strength and conditioning professional, as well as aid in the process of the CSCS or CSCCa certification.
Opportunity for reimbursement on CSCS exam.
Qualifications: Knowledge of proper exercise techniques, experience with proper spotting technique, a strong work ethic, and the ability to volunteer 10-20 hours a week. Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach, and pursuing NSCA-CSCS and/or CSCCa-SCCC certification(s).
