The University of Missouri-St. Louis Sports Performance Department is accepting applications for One Sports Performance Coach - Professional Intern. This is a paid, $5000 stipend position that offers Division II experience with 17 varsity sports and training in an educational environment. The Sports Performance Professional Intern will work directly
and independently from the Director of Sports Performance, gaining hands-on experience in the administration and operations of a collegiate sports performance department. Intern will have direct oversight of 2-3 teams based upon previous experience, and various duties as assigned. Anticipated internship start date: July 1, 2025. Completion Date: April 30, 2026 with the option for rehire for a second-year dependent upon review.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and coaching of training sessions for all sports as assigned
- Weight Room Management Duties
- Conduct testing protocols performed with the student-athletes
- Providing a positive training atmosphere for the student-athletes
- duties as assigned by the staff
- Interns are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week
- Successful completion of the Hands-on mentorship curriculum in preparation for future positions in the field of Sports Performance
Qualifications:
- Recently graduated or current graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Sports Performance, Exercise Science, or a related field.
- Either CSCCa-SCCC, NSCA-CSCS or USAW Certified & CPR, AED, First Aid Certified (Required to have prior to start date)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

- If intern accepts offer to work for their second year, UMSL’s Sports Performance Department will sign off on the 640-hr requirement, and cover certification cost for intern to sit for the CSCCa’s SCCC certification. (Does not include Transportation or Room and Board.)
