OUAZ, in Surprise, AZ, has an opening for a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach reporting to the Director of Strength and Conditioning, this is a 12-month renewable assignment. The Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach assists with the day-to-day management of the strength and Conditioning program, which requires some night and weekend work. Candidates for the Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach should possess a commitment to Christian higher education, utilize servant leadership style of leadership, and be willing to assume the duties listed in the following general position description. This is an approved CSCCa mentorship, all hours will be counted towards earning your SCCC certification. Will be able to partially pay for the fees or expenses of earning that certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
-Responsibilities will include assisting the head strength and conditioning coach with the administration and supervision of the strength and conditioning programs for all sports and directly overseeing the design and implementation of assigned sports.
-Other duties include supervision of organization and administration of athlete testing, computer data entry, and assisting in the day-to-day operation of the strength training facility.
-Duties will also include designing programming and implementation of programs.
-Ensure adherence to the NAIA and rules and regulations including the NAIA Champions of Character 5 core values
-Provide Christ-centered leadership and direction for the strength and Conditioning program
-Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Each candidate must meet the following qualifications, and any others listed specifically for each position on the OUAZ Website as well as email to Robert.hernandez@ottawa.edu
-Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field, CSCS or SCCC, and first aid/CPR
-Experience with the Olympic lifts and knowledge of long-term periodization, nutrition, and recovery methodology.
-Must have experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning program.
-Ability to work with groups from diverse cultural backgrounds.
-Microsoft word, Excel and Power Point.
-Preference will be given to those who can serve well in an increasingly diverse university community. Playing and coaching experience is also preferable.
-Effective communication and motivational skills
-Positive role model for student-athletes, university personnel and members of the off-campus community
-Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
