Merrimack College Sports Performance is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Summer 2025 (June 5th — August 8th) internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I collegiate sports performance setting, in addition to sports science principles and applications. Individuals will have the opportunity to work with Football, Basketball and Ice Hockey. The internship may fulfill course credit if necessary.
Job Description and Expectations
- Interns will report directly to Assistant Director of Sports Performance
- Be capable of fulfilling all required duties of a Sports Performance intern.
- Assist in all training and preparation for all the varsity intercollegiate sports.
- Actively participate in weekly professional development staff meetings.
-Develop strong working relationships with administrative, coaches, and support staff within the Athletic Department.
- Understand and promote the institutional and departmental mission and goals.
-Accept responsibility for all equipment and appearance of the Sports Performance facility.
- Responsible for equipment setup and breakdown for all supervised workouts.
- Accept responsibility and well-being of all student-athletes utilizing the services of the Sports Performance department.
-Meet regularly with the Assistant Director of Sports Performance and follow up on any duties that may be assigned.
-Communicate effectively with the Sports Performance department.
-Maintain a level of professionalism in and around the Merrimack Campus community and around student and student-athletes.
- This is a NON PAID volunteer position.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field
-Certified in CPR/First Aid
- Strong desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach and pursuing CSCCa-SCCC and/or NSCA-CSCS certification(s).
