Position Title: Assistant Director of Strength, Conditioning, and Campus Wellness


Location: Jamestown, North Dakota


Employment Type: Full-time, 12 month exempt position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strength, Conditioning, and Campus Wellness, the Assistant Director will play a key role in implementing strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes and supporting campus wellness initiatives to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional health of students, faculty, and staff. This position offers an opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to a vibrant, health-focused campus community in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Located in the welcoming community of Jamestown, ND, we serve over 1,000 students and support 20+ varsity sports teams while fostering a culture of wellness for all. The Athletics department is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assistant Director to support innovative strength, conditioning, and campus-wide wellness initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage the Scott D. Peterson Weight Room and Foss Wellness Center facilities.

  • Manage Strength, Conditioning, and Campus Wellness by:

  • o Developing physical strength, speed, endurance, flexibility, and agility in a positive and motivating environment.


    o Designing and facilitating customized sport specific programs in coordination with head coaches.


    o Creating programs with injury prevention and rehabilitation focuses in conjunction with athletic trainers.


    o Creating a welcoming environment for non-athletes, staff, and faculty.


    o Collaborating with the Kinesiology Department to develop a yearly plan regarding health and wellness


    o Developing a slate of classes and programs that engage the campus community.


    o Establishing a sustainable internship program in conjunction with the Kinesiology Department.


    o Manage the summer community engagement program.


    o Serve as the liaison to the Business Office for wellness initiative programs on campus.


    o Other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field.

  • Related work experience in strength and conditioning or fitness programming, preferably in a collegiate, high school, or recreational setting.

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa or SCCC) and/or USA Weightlifting (Level 2).

  • Knowledge of exercise physiology, program design, and injury prevention strategies.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups, including athletes, students, and staff.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support athletic events and wellness activities.

  • CPR/AED and first aid certification
