Dr. Timothy Piper

Ph.D.

Dr. Piper has over 25 years of teaching at the collegiate level and is currently an assistant professor at Western Illinois University. He holds a B.S. degree in Exercise Science, an M.S. degree in Exercise Physiology, both from WIU, and an Ed.D. in Adult Education from Northern Illinois University. He is currently the WIU NSCA-ERP director as well as being the main professor in the graduate Strength and Conditioning track within the WIU Kinesiology department. He and his wife own Free Range Yoga & Community Wellness Center, serving a broad range of clientele from high school athletes to those suffering from pain and chronic disease.

Service is very important to Dr. Piper and he also runs a free training facility for those interested in strength training and conditioning for a variety of sports including Powerlifting and Weightlifting. He is a board member of the ADFPF Board of Directors member (2008-2016) (2017-present), ADFPF Membership Director and Treasurer (2008-2016), NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, World Drug Free Powerlifting Federation (WDFPF) International judge, and was formerly a USAWA National Judge

Dr. Piper has been actively publishing for over 20 years, in both peer-reviewed journals as well as popular magazines. His research interests include work in the areas of sport psychology, strength, power, ultra-endurance, self-directed learning, and special populations.
