Michael Kiely joined the Hornets Strength & Conditioning Staff in January 2022, earning the title of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. His direct responsibilities are to oversee the development of the DSU Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Soccer, Golf, and Tennis teams as well as the sprinters, jumpers, and pole vaulters of Track & Field.
Kiely comes to DSU having served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland since 2018. While there, Kiely oversaw the growth and development of the school's strength and conditioning department, having helped build the program from scratch. In addition, Kiely oversaw the development of all nine Dragons varsity sports and trained various conference championship-winning teams, NJCAA All-Americans, and NCAA transfers.
The Silver Spring, Maryland native graduated from Guilford College in 2017 with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences and from Liberty University in 2020 with a M.S. in Human Performance. While at Guilford, Kiely was a three-year member of the Men's Basketball program and a part of the conference championship-winning team during the 2016-2017 season.
Prior to DSU, Coach Kiely's previous stops in his coaching career include internships with UMBC in Fall of 2017 and the Bowie Baysox of Minor League Baseball during the 2016 season.?
