You will learn how Coach Hughes cultivates an environment with specific procedures that incentivize the athlete to level up their performance that is primarily athlete-lead.

Cody Hughes is going into his 8th year as the Director of Human Performance and Assistant Athletic Director at Madison Academy in Huntsville, AL. Coach Hughes oversees all high performance training, planning, and analysis for all sports teams. During his tenure at Madison Academy, he has helped multiple interns become head strength coaches, created a 5-figure annual budget from scratch, and created a full-time assistant strength coach position in the department. Coach Hughes has been part of state championships in multiple sports and 40+ college signees in 7 Years. Coach Hughes is known as one of the industry leaders in high school strength and conditioning along with his extensive knowledge and experience with sports technology. Before Madison Academy, Coach Hughes was the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at McNeese State University from 2017-2018 working on Coach Ben Sowders’ staff. At McNeese, Coach Hughes was responsible for assisting with football and training the volleyball, softball, and baseball teams. Coach Hughes was responsible for the internship program along with the data management of the department. Before McNeese State, Coach Hughes was a Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at the University of West Alabama working with football, baseball, men and women’s basketball, and baseball. Coach Hughes worked alongside Coach Joseph Boyd from 2016-2017. Coach Hughes earned his Master’s Degree from UWA in Physical Education. Coach Hughes spent the 2016 Summer interning for Mississippi State Football under Coach Nick Savage, Zack Akenberger, Ryan Phillis, Nate Peoples, and Riley Allen. Cody is a 4-Year Letterman Baseball Player at the University of Montevallo where he received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology in 2016. Cody is married to his wife, Connor, and has two sons, Beckham and Daniel.
