Post-Activation Potentiation: Theory and Application in explosiveness development

Post-activation potentiation (PAP) is the practice of using a Conditioning Activity (CA) to enhance future performance, either in strength training or sports. This presentation will explore the phenomenon of PAP and the application into strength and conditioning programs. After a brief introduction to the physiology behind eliciting PAP, this presentation will explain the various types of CAs and their effectiveness. Additionally, this presentation will describe the best times to use PAP to improve sport performance. Finally, we will explain counterindications to PAP and what may limit performance.
