What Every Athlete Needs

Biography:
Michael Boyle is one of the worlds' foremost educators in the areas of performance training, personal training and athletic rehabilitation. His company Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, founded in 1997, was one of the first for-profit strength and conditioning facilities in the world. In 2009 and 2010 Men's Health named Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning one of the top ten workout facilities in the United States. During his career Boyle has been involved in training and rehabilitation with a wide range of athletes, including stars in every major professional sport. In addition, Mike has served as a consultant to some of the top teams in the NFL, NHL, as well as numerous division one athletic programs. Boyle has been involved in Olympic Gold Medal efforts in both women's soccer (2004) and women's ice hockey (1998) and is the current Strength and Conditioning coach for the United States Women's National Ice Hockey Team. In 2012 and 2013 Boyle served as a strength and conditioning coach for the Boston Red Sox, winners of the World Series in 2013. In addition from 1991-1999 Boyle served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League. From 1983-2012 Boyle served as a strength and conditioning coach at Boston University and was strength and conditioning coach for the 1995 and 2009 Ice Hockey National Championship teams. Mike's impact is now being felt globally through his website www.strengthcoach.com, through his Body By Boyle Online education service and through MBSC-Thrive a licensing partnership with Men's Health Magazine. The translation of his first book, Functional Training for Sports, into Japanese, Chinese and German also has helped make Mike Boyle a world recognized expert in the strength and conditioning and personal training fields. Boyle's third book Advances in Functional Training has been translated into eight languages, including Italian, German, Chinese, and Hungarian. Boyle has been a featured speaker for the Chinese Olympic Committee, The Netherlands Olympic coaches, German Olympic Coaches as well as the first speaker at the Irish Sport Coaches Institute. How often do we look at why we do what we do. Do we, as author Simon Sinek says, "start with why" as we design our programs or do we just do what we've always done? Todays talk will deals with the "why" behind what I believe as a coach and then look into how we execute our "whys". The goal is get you as a coach to examine your philosophy, starting with why.
